Monroe Township, located in Middlesex County offers much for everyone. With its blue-ribbon school district and a town rich
with open space, Monroe is an attractive place in which to settle. In addition, this town offers recreational opportunities for
all ages and is in close proximity to NYC.
Monroe’s efforts in development in the past was largely concentrated on age-restricted communites, followed by shopping centers,
houses of worship, and a recreation center. In the more recent past, Monroe has had a wave in residential development,
including more adult communities and many luxury home developments.
Plans for the future include developing a tract of land near route 33, The Marketplace, would include construction of new luxury
homes, a state of the are minor league ballpark, 200 hundred acres of naturally-preserved parkland, upscale town center, a park
and ride, and the new headquarters of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey. Work is slated to begin on a 30,000 square
foot senior center, which would include a multi-purpose room, an art room, billiard room, kitchen with pantry, a health office,
classroom, and exercise room. Some of the age-restricted communites offer services to the residents such as transportation.
Monroe has 4 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school.
